We welcome you to IMI Globe blog, and affiliate to IMI. IMI is a short form for Integrated Mental Health Initiative.
It was founded in 2015 because of the unbearable burden of mental illnesses. World Health Organisation estimated that 1 in 4 people faced mental disorders.
Locally, in Uganda, atleast every two members of any given family suffered some kind of mental disability.
Our experience of both local and international situation has shaped how we work, from a local entity to global, and across cultures or geographical areas.
We nurse compassionate consideration for indigenous approaches to mental disorders and healing, and coordinate practice through research and evidence.
The goal of IMI GLOBE is to analyse malaptive systems and restructure them to reduce vulnerability to mental illnesses and accerelate healing for sustainable wellbeing.
Home-based approach is used to assess at-risk people in their natural setting where disorders are formed and maintained as normal and increase burden of institutionalised care.
Participants in care involve families, romantic relationships, friends, faith or development support groups, insitutions, and governance structures all which constitute historical analysis to understand cause-effect relationship of a given case.
Psychotherapy is determined basing on the findings and recommendations from the assessments.
The cases that require institutionalised care are determined as appropriate for cases showing limited family involvement or social support. IMI partners and collaborates with individual experts and research agencies to keep abreast with latest approaches to care.
You are always welcome to seek our services and products or to partner with us in efforts towards reducing vulnerability to mental disorders, accelerating healing and strengthening wellbeing and peace.
Enjoy your time with us.
