DOHA Debate on BBC

While watching DOHA Debate on BBC, a similar drama as that witnessed at Makerere University last year emerged, where people are ferried and financed by perpetuators of violence to defend such positions. In this case, money is a powerful weapon used to blind the world from ground truths.

Like the Doha Debate, BBC’s have your say that took place in Makerere University on 21st May 2007 in the senate conference room; level 4 was an injustice to the entire Makerere University Students and the international community who listened in. There was conspiracy well executed by the BBC and NRM –with the largest section being non-students masquerading as MUK students that must be pointed out. Unfortunately or fortunately, there was no video coverage to prove that. The world could only hear voices in the caricature of MUK students.

While BBC pre-empted the then anticipated debating show by “secretly” revealing their presence and topics for discussion to NRM “students” to rehearse for the day’s action without knowledge of other political parties in the university. The NRM on their part made sure they came armed with verbal “artilleries” ready to dominate, hijack and rubbish any other view deferring from theirs –all which BBC and NRM “students” executed successfully. It was like well-hatched plan by BBC and NRM given the mode of operation BBC officials used.

Throughout the “debate” they tended to only give speaking chance to specific individuals whom they seemed to know very well as prominent members NRM. I would congratulate them for being successful but also make it clear that their views and whatever was aired-out did not represent the views of the entire students’ body but a few well-organized, swift and theatrical NRM youths who had escorted Honorable Minister Kivenjinja to defend government policies using MUK as a capital base.

There was only about four identifiable non-NRM in attendance who when they got speaking time disagreed with the larger audience while the rest were NRMs, who could boo at unfamiliar tone that often came from the identifiable four. It was like an NRM first ever press-conference taking place in MUK led by Minister Kivenjinja, who on his part reminded the world that he was minister of information and guidance and that whatever he said was through proper guidance of what events were in Uganda .

Whether he was guiding or misguiding could be for you to tell. Whenever an NRM member spoke, the rest would cheer him or her like fans in a football pavilion. They kept on changing sitting positions so that they could be identified as new conference room entrants. Most unjustifiable to note was that BBC officials chose same faces they new had spoken numerous times and ignored those few thought to be contradicting the mainstream group (the seemingly well-known) -where if a mistake was made of selecting one who spoke differently, the mainstream would quickly shout-out to silence him or her. They could in solidarity shout out, “who are you?! Where did you grow up from?! Be civilized!”

Another interesting aspect observable was that they seemed to have given themselves (pre-determined) roles to play once they were there (at the “theatre”). They could decide topics for BBC, which they seemed to have rehearsed very well with individual role-players speaking in an extremely systematic, well-coordinated and well-organized mode. The mechanics done could convince anyone beyond reasonable doubts that Ugandan opposition will never win a political seat.

Those, like Andrew Mwenda, who called from the USA thinking he was talking to MUK students was simply trapped like an organism being monitored in research laboratory under a microscope to see if its behavior rhymed with the so called MUK students or NRM, and if not, be quickly discarded. In other words, the rest of the world was for three to four hours under the simple reign of these mafia-likes rulers.

It is, therefore, very wrong now or then for any member of the international community who heard “MUK students” views on BBC to say or imagine they were a representation of MUK students but rather the usual political robberies, among others, afflicting Uganda . I saw it without spectacles and went away not only amused but also feeling sorry for my Ugandan counterparts, fellow students then and the international community that were taken for a three to four hours of unconscious hijack and ride by the mafia-likes.

In future BBC must make video broadcasts as well for reference and public clarity as may always be needed as for the 21st May world unconscious hijack case! If such continues then the BBC would always be a source of disorder and nonsense for the world harmony, justice, peace and security. This can show us how easy handfuls of people or even just one person could manifest themselves in a way that could falter or otherwise affect world desired order. And that the BBC could be worthy architects of world chaos from which it seemingly thrives.
